About Us

We're David and Xela (pronounced Shay-luh), a husband-and-wife team with a shared passion for the arts. David's background in music includes playing with a Math Jazz Band in Washington state, bringing unique rhythms into his life. By day, he works with computers and technology and has a keen interest in how these fields intersect with the arts, finding inspiration in the blending and technical and creative worlds. Xela, an opera singer with a master's degree in vocal performance, has always been drawn to the arts, with a love for photography that began in middle school, where she won several awards. Her experience with stagecraft and the visual elements of performance has deeply influenced her sense of drama and composition, enriching her approach to both photography and teaching music. Together, we bring our love for creative expression into Down the Hall Studios, providing a welcoming space for music lessons, photography and more.
